Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood or 2003, or Who Cares

These rants are usually about the social critical merits of anime/manga done by the person with the least qualifications, due to social privilege over credentials, possible. Now we are going to try something different. This is not social criticism but literary criticism with social justice bent. Still call me out on all the usual and still go to the links below over anything that I have to say, but still here me out.

    1. Agreed, with most everything said in the article. The point I am trying to say with my own is both should be respected because they are trying to do very different things, however, yes, for all reasons given in your link, the original is "better" overall because what it is trying to do is substantially more difficult than what Brotherhood is, and it pulls it off in a way that can be a bit hard to follow for some, but is nonetheless, brilliant.

  2. Oh no way would I say Brotherhood is terrible I like it a lot. I kind of started out with the manga, watched the original while wondering why they were both different then Brotherhood came out. It's just there are many people bad mouthing the original, and try to convey new anime watchers to skip it when I agree they should watch both.

    1. Yeah, I do not get why that is. Brotherhood is far better if watched after one watches the original (and reads the manga ideally). Personally, I think it is a case of many vocal people (who have time and or money on their hands to be so loud) getting roped in to melodrama and repelled by something that actually calls them to action in the real world. For more detail, see my latest post on Game of Thrones/a Song of Ice and Fire (shameless self promotion: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0iyjXg7Js9icS1FTndFSUo1VFU/edit?usp=sharing).

  3. That's very great, but I didn't know some people disliked it. I thought it was like the no.1 material in its field
